We already know that Volkswagen represents truly unbelievable value – it's the cornerstone of our new advertising
campaign, but now customers don't just have to take our word for it – they can read all about it in the words of the Telegraph's 'Mr Money'. Motoring columnist Mike Rutherford writes that, "As Volkswagen's own slogan suggests, it's hard to believe, but Volkswagens have moved from being the dearest to one of, if not the, least expensive. Not only is it the case that official Golf prices are now below those for Astra and Focus, but ownership costs are lower, and resale values higher."
Rutherford goes on to say "Honestly, there is now no reason why the savvy and sane private buyer would invest his or her own money in a Corsa or a Fiesta over a Polo, or an Astra or Focus instead of a Golf."

It has strong residual values and a wide choice of efficient engines that lead to low operating costs. Drivers see it as an aspirational car in its sector. "Build quality remains a class benchmark while the Golf is also enjoyable to drive. It scores highly for comfort and refinement as well as for its excellent road manners. "The Golf represents good value against other mainstream products, whose list prices increased more steeply during 2009 – a factor that also helps drivers minimise their BiK tax bills."
