Volkswagen up! GTI Returns
It’s back! The Volkswagen up! GTI is back on sale again bringing several new trim levels to the table. After temporary withdrawal, it’s finally back on the market with the new sporty-looking R-Line model joining the line-up. The models in the new and improved revised range in available to order now with prices starting from £12,44. The Volkswagen GTI has been reintroduced and has been completely revamped for 2020 with several new trims. All the versions are now available to buy, if you want the three-door version then you’re looking at £15,895 starting price.
The entry-level model comes with 15-inch alloy wheels, a smartphone cradle so you can connect your phone and use it as a touchscreen and DAB radio. If you’re looking for the five-door model it will cost you an extra £400 but the starting model and the GTI only come in a three-door option. It’s being recommended as one of the best city cars for 2020.
You have the choice between then black model and white model which start from £13,125, these are the latest editions to the range. They boast a larger allot wheel by an inch and have contrasting black paint on the roof, mirror caps, door and dashboard inlays. You also have the option to upgrade tot he Beats model from around £13,490 which has a premium stereo system with an underfloor subwoofer and coloured mirror caps.
This model slips in at the top of the range with the new R-line addition, it brings a lowered sports suspension and athletic look to the board. It comes with matching door mirrors to the lack roof, an R-line badge and 16-inch alloy wheels, you can add 17-inch wheels as an extra.
You will find plenty of equipment with the R-line model, which include heated front seats, electrically adjustable heated door mirrors and front fog lights. You’re looking at a starting price of £14,280, the same as the Beats and Black/White edition it’s available in a 5-door option.
It’s only been off sale for a short amount of time but the GTI certainly joins the line-up as a hot-hatchback. It showcases the Volkswagen tartan cloth upholstery, ambient lighting and 17-inch alloys.
All the Versions use the 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine with 59bhp, however, with the GTI you get a supercharged engine that provides 113bhp and with it being such as a small car that power is good enough for a 0-62mph time of just 8-.8 seconds.
Although, this is the fastest in the range it still manages to be the most efficient. It will give you 53.3mpg and emits 120g/km of CO2.
Included in the lineup is the electric Volkswagen e-up. It has been upgraded to be able to provide 161 miles of range. This a considerable improvement on the previous model that only offers 100 miles between charges. It will be available to order soon. This model is going to be the first to wear the all-new VW badge.
